W.Va. Native Robby Martin Enters the Transfer Portal
NC State offensive lineman and West Virginia native Robby Martin is entering the transfer portal, according to a report by Pete Nakos of On3 Sports.
Martin was the top-ranked recruit in West Virginia in the 2024 signing class out of Huntington High, ultimately choosing NC State over joining the Mountaineers. He did not play for the Wolfpack while redshirting this season.
Martin grew up a WVU fan and was recruited hard by then-offensive line coach Matt Moore out of high school.
“They have recruited me hard, they have also been great to me and I feel it’s a good program,” Martin told WVSN during his initial recruitment. He also explained he wants the school he picks to feel like home and to treat him as a member of a family.
He ultimately committed to and signed with the Wolfpack after visiting both the NC State and WVU over the summer.
If Martin is still in terested in WVU, the Mountaineers could certainly use offensive linemen after graduating four starters and losing Tomas Rimac to the transfer portal. Rimac and backup lineman Kyle Altune have both followed Moore to his new job at Virginia Tech.
