WVU Football Loses Top 2025 RB Recruit to North Carolina State

A recently signed recruit is leaving West Virginia before he could even embark on his career as a Mountaineer. North Carolina State managed to steal away Deandre Desinor on Tuesday, a month after he signed with WVU football on December’s National Signing Day.

Desinor, who was viewed as one of West Virginia’s top 2025 recruits, signed three days after Neal Brown was fired. However, he has now changed his mind and won’t play for Rich Rodriguez and his staff after all.

Listed at 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, Desinor, out of Atlantic High School in Delray Beach, Fla., is ranked as a consensus four-star prospect by major national recruiting outlets and a top 40 player in Florida.

Desinor initially picked WVU over offers from schools of all levels like FAU, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Maryland, Ole Miss, Penn State, Pitt, USF and Texas A&M. West Virginia won a final battle for Desinor between Colorado, Louisville and Oregon.

Before this latest flip, it appeared persistence paid off for the WVU staff in the case of recruiting Desinor. West Virginia initially sent him an offer back in May of 2023 and waited for him to commit on June 3 after an official visit.
