WVU Batting Virginia Tech for Transfer Player as Prize
WVU and Virginia Tech last played in 2022, but that doesn’t mean they don’t compete against each other. The most recent battle is over a transfer player with his list narrowed down to two rivals.
UTSA linebacker transfer Jimmori Robinson recently revealed that his decision is coming down to the Mountaineers and Hokies. And adding a player like Robinson would go a long way in helping either program get itself headed back in the right direction.
In 2024, Robinson totaled 43 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, 10.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two deflected two passes passes as he was named the American Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year.

Overall in four years at UTSA, Robinson has 110 total tackles, 30 tackles for a loss and 15 sacks in 43 games played. Robinson has an extra year of eligibility due to the NCAA’s new rule concerning players who experienced a year or more at a junior college. Before ending up at UTSA, Robinson spent time at Dodge City in 2019 and Monroe College in 2020 – his entire season was lost to the pandemic.
He announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 19.
Robinson would bring experience and a player ready to prove himself in the Power Four.
WVU is currently home to the Black Diamond Trophy after completing back-to-back wins over Virginia Tech, but they are now hoping to claim another win over Virginia Tech, this one on the recruiting trail. So instead of another trophy, a coveted transfer would be the current prize for the winner of this rivalry.
