WVU Women’s Basketball Moves Up One Spot in AP Poll

Categories :

Inch by inch, the WVU women’s basketball team is moving up the national rankings. On Monday, West Virginia moved up one spot to No. 17 in the Associated Press’ poll.

In some way, the Mountaineers were fortunate to move up at all after staying put when the poll was released last week. Since then, WVU went 1-1 as they now hold an overall record of 20-5 and a Big 12 mark of 10-4.

Most recently, WVU took care of business on Senior Night, rolling over a talented Cincinnati Bearcats team 69-50. But before securing back-to-back 20-win years for Mark Kellogg, they fell 75-65 at the hands of Baylor in Waco.

WVU is back at it almost immediately upon learning their new ranking as they host No. 14 Kansas State beginning at 2 p.m. on Monday.
