WVU Women’s Basketball concluded their regular season with a win, taking down the Cincinnati Bearcats 85-69 on the road.

The No. 18 Mountaineers (23-6, 13-5 Big 12) rode another standout performance from senior shooting guard JJ Quinerly, who dropped 31 points, all but seven of them in the first half, helping West Virginia establish a 44-30 lead at the break. Quinerly hit the 20 point mark with more than four minutes to go until the half and added seven rebounds, seven assists and a steal, while Jordan Harrison contributed 21 points and Jordan Thomas dropped 16 off the bench.

While the Mountaineers drained 40.9 percent of their shots, including a torrid 47.1 percent clip from three, they weren’t at their most efficient, committing 16 turnovers and preventing the game from becoming an onslaught.

The Mountaineers enjoyed their best success early: while they led by as much as 22 midway through the fourth quarter, they only outscored the Bearcats by two points in the entire second half, Cincinnati closing the deficit to a more respectable margin in the waning minutes.

Both teams rang up more than 20 fouls and play bogged down late: West Virginia converted 23 of 31 free throws, while the Bearcats made 13 of 24.

Up next for WVU Women’s Basketball is the Big 12 Tournament: as things stand right now, they occupy the No. 5 seed in the conference bracket.
