WVU Football Wins 2027 4-Star After RB Coach Announcement

A day after the WVU football program announced the hiring of Larry Porter as their new running backs coach, they gain a commitment of top nearby recruit. On Friday, Western Pennsylvania’s Armand Hill revealed his commitment to West Virginia while recognizing Porter in his post on social media.
“I want to thank all the coaches and staff that have recruited and gave me opportunity, I am beyond blessed and proud to announce I am 100% Committed to West Virginia University,” said Hill.

Hill also promoted WVU’s hiring of Porter the day before committing.
A product of West Mifflin High School within the WPIAL, Hill (5-foot-10, 178 pounds) is a 2027 prospect and considered a four-star by multiple national recruiting outlets.
Securing a commitment of a player like Hill is an indicator of how recruits view Porter, a coach with a long and impressive resume, joining the Mountaineers. Hill was initially offered by the previous WVU staff in June of 2024.
Hill is currently ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 4 player in Pennsylvania for the Class of 2027 and the No. 134 player overall in the country.
The last WPIAL player to commit to West Virginia was Bishop Canevin 3-star athlete Jason Cross Jr., who was a member of the Class of 2024.
Hill already has some monster performances under his belt, including running for 495 yards in a single game – the second highest total in the rich history of the WPIAL.
It’s worth noting that Porter and West Virginia still need to keep his commitment, which might not be easy considering he has offers from major program like Michigan and Penn State. He also has Power Four offers from WVU’s rival in Pitt and Syracuse as well as an attractive Group of 5 in UNLV.
